Jay Z’s music streaming site has announced that they now have a new artist (to join the many others). T.R.A.Y. aka Travell Rhymes And You, one of the most respected and hardest-working rappers in Ohio hip hop, has signed on to promote his latest release on Tidal.
As if announcing the release of a new project after last year's "Moment of Truth LP" wasn’t going to make enough of a splash, the rapper says he will be premiering new music exclusively on Tidal. Travell says he intends for his upcoming release to be a full album that he intends to distribute to his day one fans.
The rapper hasn't released any new music since the fall of 2014. Never one to sit back and take time off, he is always constantly working, and tons of new music that all has to go somewhere. Tidal subscribers will be able to hear the complete album before it gets released anywhere else.
Travell has went on record stating he is “not cool with the idea that music is given away for free to millions of people, after musicians have put in hours and hours of work to create the best possible product for fans, and he agrees with the stand that fellow artist Jay-Z is making against the record industry not paying artists the correct amount. TIDAL is a great way for small musicians to share music directly with fans, and get paid proper royalties."
T.R.A.Y. - “Its dope that people get to hear my latest music and I can’t wait to to get back to doing what I love to do” The rapper has a huge online following via TravellRhymes.com and thousands of fans around the globe, which he is hoping will find their way over to Tidal now that he’s a member.
For those diehard music fans who are unsure if they want to commit to ten dollars a month for Tidal, the service is offering a free one month trial, which is as close to “freemium” as it looks like the platform will get.
